Annisa Karim

Annisa Karim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and a minor in Zoology from the University of Florida's Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in 1997. She moved to Naples, FL. in October 1998 to work as an intern and then full time naturalist for The Conservancy of Southwest Florida at the Briggs Nature Center. In 2002, she accepted a job as a research associate for Martin B. Main, Ph.D. helping to develop curriculum for the Florida Master Naturalist Program before she ventured to Gainesville once again. She entered a graduate program at the University of Florida in the Fall of 2003 and conducted original research in the Florida Keys focusing on the conservation of Tropical Hardwood Hammocks and the avian species that rely on them. Annisa earned a Master of Science degree from the Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in 2007 and then accepted a temporary position with Collier County as an Environmental Specialist for the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Program.

In February 2009, Annisa was hired as a Land Stewardship Coordinator for Lee County's Department of Parks and Recreation. She is responsible for stewardship activities such as writing/ updating Land Stewardship Plans, managing projects related to exotic plant control, prescribed fire and habitat restoration primarily on lands acquired by Lee County before the Conservation 20/20 program was established. Annisa currently serves as the Conservation Committee Chair for the Naples Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society and as a member of the Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee.
