Nomination #371, which has been named Buckingham Trails Preserve, is a 572 acre parcel that was acquired in November 2008.

This property has a rich history with evidence of its usage still visible today. This property was part of the Buckingham Airfield and base which provided training to World War Two gunners. Four bunkers are on the property along with two jeep tracks that were used for target practice.

The property currently has a cattle lease on it with much of the northwestern corner of the property being cleared agricultural grazing land. A small wetland infested with melaleuca is in the southwestern corner of the property along Buckingham Road. There is a large section along the eastern half of the property that is scrub.

Conservation 20/20 Land Stewards are visiting the site periodically and will eventually spend several months of concentrated field work coinciding with the writing of the Land Stewardship Plan. During that time, public recreational opportunities will be determined. In the mean time, individuals can contact Land Stewardship staff about accompanying them on a site inspection.
