Flag Pond Preserve (FPP) contains about 67 acres and was acquired in 2003. The Preserve's name is derived from a high density of alligator flag in the pond (basin swamp). The Preserve contains six plant communities including basin swamp, fallow farm land, mesic and wet flatwoods, mesic hammock, and wet prairie. Flag Pond Preserve provides habitat for a variety of animal species, including white ibis, great egret, Florida cottonmouth, and Florida apple snail.

The site is bordered by Centex Homes and Arborwood DRI (Development of Regional Impact) to the north, Lee County Port Authority and Laurel Oak Development-Southwest Florida LLC to the south, undeveloped land to the west owned by Watermen at Daniels Parkway LLC, the eastern boundary is bordered by a business park and a conservation easement owned by Southwest Regional Commerce.

Currently, there are no plans for public amenitites at this site. Hydric soils and wetland plant communities make the site unsuitible for resource based recreation (see Land Stewardship Plan for more details). Resource based recreational opportunities occur at Lee County managed facilities such as the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, Ten Mile Canal Linear Park, Lakes Regional Park, Three Oaks Park, Buckingham Community Park and Barkingham Dog Park, all within 5-8 miles of FPP.
