Galt Preserve Amenities Open but with a Trail Closure

Get out and enjoy the cool and dry Florida winter on the new amenities at Galt Preserve. These amenities include a parking areas, a composting restroom, canoe/kayak launch, trails, an observation deck, a fishing deck, and a number of picnic pavilions.

A portion of this trail is closed in order to better protect the nesting bald eagles. The amenities at Galt Preserve were designed in compliance with the federal, state and county guidelines, but we want to protect our nesting eagles and the next generation as best we can. We want to share this amazing thing with you, but we want to give the eagles the best chance they can have. Unfortunately, human attention is not necessarily welcomed. The embryos in the eggs can die if the adult is stressed and leaves the nest for too long. Please respect their privacy: keep your voices to a whisper, use binoculars or spotting scopes to view them and only take photographs with telephoto lenses. If the birds move or seem agitated please back off; they are upset. Thank you for your cooperation!
