Exotic Plant Control Projects Have Begun...

A number of your favorite Conservation 20/20 Preserves are undergoing maintenance invasive exotic plant control treatments as Conservation 20/20 staff work with various contractors to protect native habitat from invading exotics plant species.

2013/2014 - Pine Tree Thinning & Melaleuca Removal Projects

While keeping our Lee County residents & visitors informed, as part of our on-going restoration efforts to continue improving our conservation lands, please click on the 2013/2014 Pine Thinning document to learn more about:
1. the science/reasons behind these types of projects and why they are an important management tool,
2. see before & after photos from a similar past project area, and
3. learn the location of the six preserves that are next in-line for pine thinning/melaleuca removal.
 
This project is scheduled to begin sometime during the fall season, after the rainy season has ended and the areas dry down enough to allow access.  Questions?  Please contact the preserve's site coordinator for additional information.

-Take a Hike- At Six Preserves in Sixteen Days!

Guided nature hikes will be provided by Conservation 20/20 Ranger Mickey Miller. Each hike is limited to 15 people so please R.S.V.P. at MMiller2@leegov.com or (239) 229-0522. Space for vehicles is primitive & limited (please carpool) and there are no restroom facilities on-site.  Please remember to bring items you may need during the hike (i.e. water, hat, sunscreen, binoculars, camera, closed-toed shoes or boots, etc.).  Come see & experience the diversity that Lee County Conservation 20/20 Preserves has to offer!
